If you were hoping to see some new iPad at tomorrow’s special event, you might want to lower your expectations. This is because, according to the journalist Mark Gurman (and Bloomberg), the keynote will be entirely focused on the presentation of the new iPhones and Apple Watches, with possible news for Apple’s tablet line remaining only for October.
In his participation in the most recent episode of podcast The MacRumors Show, he said that Apple will not present any tablet at tomorrow’s keynote. However, the iPad line could see new features as early as next month — most likely in the form of a sixth-generation iPad Air.
Apparently, however, this possible launch will not be accompanied by a special event. For Gurman, Apple simply does not intend to present a sufficient number of devices to justify a new event in October, which makes the idea of a launch via press release much more plausible.
Last year, it is worth remembering, the company launched the iPads Pro with the M2 chip and the tenth generation iPad also through press releases, repeating the dose months later with the most recent MacBooks Pro and the Macs mini with the M2 chips and M2 Pro.
As iPads Pro follow an update cycle of about a year and a half, it’s quite unlikely that we’ll see new models anytime soon. According to rumors, they will probably only be updated in the middle of next year — probably soon after the arrival of the “M3” chip.
What about other iPads?
Although Gurman is betting on the arrival of an updated iPad Air, he did not at any point rule out the possibility of us seeing, for example, a seventh-generation iPad mini — which would make sense, as this model has not seen an upgrade for almost two years. .
According to a relatively reliable rumor that circulated on the Chinese social network Weibo recently, however, this possibility is somewhat remote. Also noticed by the staff of MacRumorshe claims that the sixth-generation iPad Air will be the only new tablet from Apple for 2023.
