Apple Vison Pro: users complain that the front glass cracks on its own

Sold in the United States for US$3,499 (~R$17,400), the Apple Vision Pro has displeased some users not because of its lack of features, but because of its fragility.

In some reports published on the social network Reddit, many consumers say that the Apple mixed reality glasses front glass cracks on its own. This has happened with some frequency, since there is more than one report involving the defect.

Generally, the crack always appears in the same place: in the center of the front of the Vision Pro. For many users, this may be the result of excessive pressure in the manufacturing process for the glass to assume this shape.

See an example below:

A Reddit user said that the glass on his Vision Pro broke on its own inside the protective case. The glasses did not fall, hit any surface or be involved in any accident. It was just kept turned on.

What happened – last night I polished the front of my glasses, stored it with the cap on, and when I woke up this morning, I saw this crack. No falls and no accidents.

There appears to be a consistent manufacturing issue with the glass – my ignorant guess is that this shape creates some tension above the nose, which eventually cracks, even without any external force.

A second user said that in his case the front glass cracked while the Vision Pro was charging.

Charging the battery of this expensive contraption is unlikely to result in this crack forming. Therefore, we believe that it is a problem related to glass manufacturing and that it needs to be resolved – said Macrumors.

When contacting Apple, the company did not offer to replace the device, but rather to repair the glass. The price is US$300 (~R$1,489) within Apple Care and US$800 (~R$3,972) outside the program. In other words, in the second case it is the price of a standard iPhone 15.

For now, Apple has not issued a press release.
