TUCSON, Ariz.—The Arizona Beach Volleyball team will play their final regular season home match against the No. 13 Arizona State Sun Devils on Thursday, April 18.

The Wildcats return to Bear Down Beach Thursday after a long stretch of road games. Last week, Arizona went 1-1 at both the Boise State Tri-Dual and at the Stanford Invitational.

Arizona is 17-8 in its history against ASU, but the two teams last faced each other earlier this season at the Pac-12 South Invitational, with ASU earning a narrow 3-2 victory over the Sand Cats.

The Sand Cats are undefeated (11-0) at Bear Down Beach. They will face the Sun Devils at 3 p.m. on Thursday, and fans can follow along with the game’s live stats.

After this matchup at Bear Down Beach, the Sand Cats will hit the road once more, heading to Los Angeles to play in the LMU Tri-Dual against Loyola Marymount and California State University, Northridge.

LMU Tri-Dual Match Ups

LMU- The Sand Cats are 2-2 against LMU. The last time the two teams met, in 2018, the Lions won 4-1.

CSUN- The Wildcats are 2-0 in their history against CSUN. The teams last met in 2016 and the match resulted in a 5-0 Arizona victory. The Matadors are 16-16 on the season.

NOTING THE WILDCATS

Steve Walker is in his 11th season as the head coach for Arizona Beach Volleyball. Walker has a career record of 198-71 (.736) at Arizona. Named the 2016 Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Coach of the Year, Walker led Arizona to the first NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship in 2016.

In her fourth year at Arizona, Abby Russell has a record of 59-39 (.602). Russell continues to move up in the rankings for individual career wins at Arizona and is now No. 11. This season, Russell and partner Olivia McElroy have gone 17-10 (.630).

Olivia McElroy, in her freshman season at Arizona, is 17-10 (.630). Russell and McElroy are now No. 20 on the list of Arizona’s season pair wins leaders.

Senior Hope Shannon is also 17-10 (.630) on the season and 67-39 (.632) as a Sand Cat. Shannon is now No. 8 on the list of individual career wins leaders at Arizona. At the Stanford Invitational, Shannon and partner Annie Kost went 1-1 at the No. 2 position.

Kost is 46-24 (.657) at Arizona, and holds the No. 15 spot for individual career wins.. This season, Kost is 20-7 (.741), holding the most wins on the season for the Wildcats.

Kylee Fitzsimmons and Grace Cook went 1-1 at the Stanford Invitational and are 10-7 as a pair on the season.

Cook has a career record of 35-24 (.593) as a Wildcat, holding the No. 19 spot for individual career wins at Arizona. This season, Cook is 14-13 (.519).

Fitzsimmons has a career record of 26-13 (.686), with a season record of 17-10 (.630).

Senior Miranda Erro is 32-23 (.582) as a Sand Cat, earning the No. 22 spot for individual career wins. This season, Erro is 13-11 (.542) at the No. 5 position with partner Ashlyn Zilliken.

Zilliken is 14-11 (.56) in her freshman season. At the Stanford Invitational, Zilliken and Erro went 1-1 at No. 5.

Freshmen Jess Horwath and Kate Phillips have made their mark in their first season at Arizona, going 18-8 (.692) with the most pair wins on the 2024 Wildcat roster. The pair now ranks as No. 18  on the list of Arizona’s season pair wins leaders.
