Arlette, congratulations on your achievement… Dream come true?
Yes. I always dreamed of that moment (of being crowned), above all, I have always wanted to represent my country in an international competition. When they said my name (as the winner of the contest), I couldn’t believe it, my eyes filled with tears and I said: ‘Really, me?’ Everything was like a movie and I saw everything like in slow motion.
Did your nerves play against you?
My emotions ran high because they put a picture (on the ‘EEG’ show) of my parents. My mom is in Italy working and my father too but in the United States. I haven’t seen them for half a year and I don’t know when I’ll see them again. They went to work and in order to seek a better future like many Peruvians. I miss them so much and I would have liked them to be present.
You will travel to Bolivia to represent Peru in ‘Hispanic American Queen’… Willing to bring the crown?
I am traveling in October and of course I am going to bring the crown. I am very committed, I really want to bring the crown to Peru and I know that I can achieve it because I put in a lot of effort, so the crown comes with me anyway.
It has always been said that there is favoritism in beauty pageants… What do you think?
That is totally false. They always say that the monkey dances for money, that competitions are bought, but to be honest… I don’t have money to buy a crown.
In social networks they have made several memes to your colleague Alessia Rovegno for her presentation in the contest… Do you think her nerves won her over?
People are a bit cruel online and don’t realize that they can hurt someone’s feelings with a simple meme or comment. Alessia was played against her nerves and she has to prepare more because she is a strong candidate.
Of the candidates that remained for the ‘Miss Peru Universe’… Do you have a favorite?
They are all very strong, but I have a favorite who is Tatiana Calmell del Solar, who is an actress, model, has a very good catwalk, excellent oratory, speaks English very well and has a special angel.
