Arrested for stealing money from a woman at a bank in Toluca

Authorities arrested Juan “N”39 years old, as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of theft from account holders and fraud in the State of Mexico.

He was detained by elements of the Public Security Secretariat of the State of Mexico (SSEM) and the Municipal Police of Toluca, State of Mexico.

The SSEM reported that during a patrol, the police received, from the state Command Center, the alert that a citizen reported that minutes before she had been robbed of a large sum of money, in the corner of Benito Juárez and Morelos avenuesin the Mexican capital.

The woman indicated that hours before she contacted a man in order to rent some real estate for a bank office, and he asked her to open two bank accounts for a certain amount of money each.

But outside the credit branch, the criminal snatched her purse with the cash and fled with other people.

Search, location, review and arrest

To the police officers who responded to the alert, the complainant gave the details and characteristics of the man who contacted her.

Immediately, they patrolled the area and located the suspect, who fled when he saw them. The officers yelled at him to stop and allow a physical inspection, to which he voluntarily agreed, SSEM says.

They found the suspect with the money that he allegedly stole from the woman, and a cell phone, so they arrested him. Then, Juan “N”, 39 years old, was told the reason for his arrest and the rights that the law confers on him.

Consigned to the Public Ministry

They later took it, along with what was confiscated, to the Metepec Regional Prosecutor’s Office building, where they consigned it. The agents will compile the investigation folder to turn it over, together with the detainee, to a Control judge.

Presumably, said the SSEM, the detainee works in the real estate industry and thus contacts his possible victims. He was identified at the bank branch where he stole the woman’s money, since he is frequently reported for fraud by local account holders.
