US soldiers only have an advisory role
But one thing is always made clear: US soldiers should not fight directly in the ground offensive by IDF units in the Hamas stronghold of Gaza City.
▶︎ According to foreign policy expert Jonathan Cristol, it is an unwritten law of US-Israeli relations that no US soldiers should ever die for Israel. “That would place a heavy burden on this important partnership, something Israel itself fears,” he told BILD. Vice President Kamala Harris (58) confirmed on US TV on Sunday that no regular US troops should be stationed in Israel or the Gaza Strip.
IDF commandos had just rescued from the clutches of Hamas terrorists a soldier, Ori Magidish, who was kidnapped from her post on October 7. The fate of the other hostages is unclear.
