Shericka Jackson set the third best time in 200m history in 21.55 seconds to become Jamaican champion on Sunday in Kingston.
At 3 weeks from the Worlds, she did not hide her surprise when she saw her time on the display panel, validated by the absence of wind.

“Honestly, I’m shocked, I didn’t expect to go so fast, I knew I had it in my legs, but to run so fast…“, she reacted.
Only the late Florence Griffith-Joyner, whose world record (21.34) still stands since 1988, and Elaine Thompson-Herah, who ran in 21.53 last year at the Tokyo Olympics, were more faster than her on the half-lap.
Jackson (28) exploded her personal best time of 26 hundredths to beat Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah (22”05) and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (22”14). She also beat a world best performance of the year (21”77) achieved a handful of hours earlier by Abby Steiner in Eugene at the United States Championships.
