With the strength of Travis Head (163) and Steve Smith (121), Australia built a huge score in the first innings despite losing the toss. Both of them added 285 runs for the fourth wicket. With this, India’s prospects faded. Mohammad Siraj, who took four wickets, excelled in bowling for India.

India: 296-10 (1st innings)

Australia continued to dominate by breaking the top line which included Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara. Ajinkya Rahane (89), Shardul Thakur (51) and Ravindra Jadeja (48) saved India from the follow-on. Pat Cummins took three wickets for Australia.

Australia: 123-4 (2nd innings)

Australia has lost the wickets of David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith and Travis Head so far after a huge lead of 173 runs. Australia will aim to find a lead above 450 runs. Marnus Lebuschein (41) and Cameron Green (7) remain at the crease.
