Aviation Tragedy in Valenciennes: Belgian Pilot Fatally Caught by Plane Propeller

The former British Airways airline pilot was hit by a propeller when the engine was started and later died in the emergency room of Valenciennes hospital. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at Prouvy’s Valenciennes airport where the man, who regularly participated in air meetings, owned two Russian Yakovlev planes. The FPS Foreign Affairs has not yet confirmed the death when contacted by Belga.

He was hit by a propeller when the engine was started and succumbed to his injuries in the evening, in the emergency room of the Valenciennes hospital.

The facts took place Thursday afternoon on the tarmac of Valenciennes airport, in Prouvy. Former airline pilot of British Airways, the man regularly participated in air meetings including that of Prouvy. He owned two Russian Yakovlev planes, located at the airport.

Contacted by Belga, the FPS Foreign Affairs has not yet been able to confirm the death.
