Vienna (OTS) – The 14th EARTH Talks will take place on October 18th in the Hofburg under the honorary protection of Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen. Under the motto “Protect what you love”, this year’s event is not only dedicated to climate protection, civil society engagement and activism, but also specifically to the loss of glaciers and the Arctic, which is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world. “No white winter and disappearing glaciers – the climate crisis is making all of this a reality. With the EARTH Talks we want to offer a platform to people who work every day for the world that they and we love. There are top-class experts and successful activists who will give their input to the audience,” emphasizes ERDtalks founder Angie Rattay.

Glacier researcher Heidi Sevestre, performance artist Cesy Leonard, “conservation medicine” expert René Anour and the young climate plaintiffs Smilla Buschbom and Levi Resch will provide insights into their work and explain what motivation drives them.

In addition to them, other guests have their say, such as ski racer Julian Schütter, snowboard freeride world champion Manuela Mandl, lawyer Michaela Krömer, WWF managing director Andrea Johanides, Mina Hagen-Canaval from Extinction Rebellion/Last Generation and the slam poets Elif Duygu and DaWastl.

“Glaciers around the world are losing mass at an ever-increasing rate. If we continue to emit such high levels of climate-damaging emissions, the glaciers in Europe could be gone in 80 years – including the Pasterze, Austria’s largest glacier. We must not allow the eternal ice to simply melt away before our eyes. The EARTH talks are intended to show how every person can get involved in our climate,” says Rattay.

The EARTH talks are taking place in Vienna for the 14th time this year. They are organized by the non-profit association NEONGREEN NETWORK, which was founded by the Viennese designer Angie Rattay.
