AYASA: Shadows of Silence launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

AYASA: Shadows of Silence, an indie puzzle-platformer developed across Armenia and the United States by Aya Games, has launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for $19.99, featuring no spoken dialogue and relying entirely on environment, music, and movement, zh-hant.martincid.com reported.

Stepping Into the Dark on Consoles

The console editions arrive following the game’s initial debut on Steam on November 28, 2025, where it is priced at $24.99. Founder and Chief Executive Officer Edgar Janoyan explained the creative choice behind the silent format in an official announcement. “Ayasa from the very beginning was meant to speak without words,” Janoyan said. “We want players to feel the story instead of reading it.” The ten-person team implemented a series of major updates based on player feedback since the PC release, creating a version designed to run consistently across both computers and current-generation consoles. The PC version includes interface and menu text translated into twenty-four languages, serving players moving through the text-free journey.

The Allegorical World of Tase

Set inside a fractured world once governed by the Absolute Tase, the narrative casts players as a young traveler named Ayasa. War shattered the balance between light and shadow, plunging six distinct lands—faith, hope, love, greed, apathy, and betrayal—into a spreading darkness. Ayasa travels across these regions to recover scattered fragments of light, each area reflecting the virtue or vice named by its title. Light functions as the primary mechanic, requiring players to locate light sources in the environment to reveal hidden pathways and activate ancient machinery. Encounters with threats demand observation, timing, and stealth rather than combat reflexes, while unresolved mysteries shape the protagonist’s path.

Drawing From Komitas and Parajanov

Aya Games constructed the aesthetic and auditory framework of the title from distinct cultural and cinematic traditions. Arman Msryan composed the original score using material collected and notated by Komitas, an Armenian priest and musicologist. The visual design draws direct inspiration from the surrealist Soviet-era animation of Robert Sahakyants and the cinematic compositions of Sergei Parajanov, alongside influences from René Laloux, Hayao Miyazaki, and Tim Burton. These artistic references manifest in specific imagery across the six lands, such as a pig-headed figure crouching over a bowl of coins in the land of greed or a child clutching a dandelion above a burning city.

The digital soundtrack and digital art book are sold separately from the base game.
