Bahraini authorities intervene after a video of slapping and beating a child in a nursery

A Bahraini court confirmed a previous ruling, convicting 3 people of catching dolphins from the territorial waters of the Gulf Kingdom and selling them on a recreational resort.

According to the newspaper, the daysIn Bahrain, the Court of Cassation approved a final ruling convicting the defendants and confiscating one thousand dinars (about 1,400 US dollars), an amount resulting from the appeal bail before the Court of Cassation.

The appeals court had ruled to overturn the first acquittal and fined the three defendants 1,000 dinars each, in addition to confiscating the boat used for fishing and returning dolphins to their natural environment at sea in order to preserve them from extinction, according to the newspaper.

The Public Prosecution had charged the first and second defendants that in April 2021 they practiced commercial fishing without obtaining a license from the competent authority, and that they also hunted dolphins within the fishing borders of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and their hunting is prohibited.

The defendants transferred 3 dolphins in the same period to a private entertainment resort. These dolphins were seized by the resort, which had not granted any permission to import any of them during the six months prior to the case.
