“Bali’s Crackdown on Cryptocurrency Payments: Tourists Beware”

Tourists who use cryptocurrencies to pay for goods and services will be punished up to deportation, said Vayan Koster, Governor of Bali.

How writes Portal Antara May 29, Koster stated that “foreign tourists who behave inappropriately, violate visa restrictions and other regulations, use cryptocurrency as a means of payment, will be severely punished.”

The statement was preceded by an investigation by local journalists that some restaurants, hotels and rental services began to accept payment in cryptocurrency instead of Indonesian rupees. In addition to deportation, severe punishment can mean an administrative fine or even criminal prosecution. Up to a term of up to five years.
