The selection process is open to Mexican citizens by birth who are between 20 and 35 years old. Beyond musical proficiency, candidates must meet strict conduct and health standards. This includes having no criminal record, possessing no body modifications or piercings, and maintaining good physical and mental health. Male applicants are required to provide a released National Military Service card. Candidates must not currently belong to any other musical group or be involved in a recruitment process with another security agency. Candidates must also confirm they are not suspended or disqualified from public service and do not consume psychotropic substances or alcohol.

Candidates Must Pass Examinations and Submit Identification Documents

The evaluation phase includes internal interviews and examinations. Prospective members must pass a test covering sight-reading and musical interpretation; for the audition, participants are required to bring their own sheet music along with two copies.
