Bangladesh defeated England; A stunning win in the first T20

Dhaka: Bangladesh beat England in the first T20 match. Bangladesh won by six wickets. Batting first, England scored 156 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted overs, while Bangladesh scored 158 runs for the loss of just four wickets in 18 overs.

Bangladesh won on the strength of Najmul Hussain Shanto’s half-century. The player scored 51 runs off 30 balls with eight fours.

Captain Shakib Al Hasan scored an unbeaten 34 off 24 balls with six fours to lead the team to victory. Afif Hussain remained unbeaten with the captain on 15 runs off 13 balls and contributed to the victory. Litan Das (12), Ronnie Talukdar (21) and Tauhid Hridoi (24) are the other players who have been dismissed.

Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood and Moeen Ali took one wicket each for England.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and allowed England to bat. Captain Jos Buttler’s excellent batting gave them the upper hand at the start. But then they failed to score runs as expected.

Buttler scored 67 off 42 balls with four sixes and fours each. Fellow opener Phil Salt scored 38 off 35 balls with four fours and a six. Ben Duquette, who scored 20 runs off 13 balls, also shone. No one else made it past the double digits.

Hasan Mahmud took two wickets for Bangladesh. Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket each.
