Baron Guy Ullens injured after heated discussion in car with Myriam Ullens, resulting in her death at the hands of another driver in Lasne

On Wednesday, March 29th, in Ohain (Lasne), Mrs. Myriam Lechien was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in a Golf vehicle by the La Mazerine police (Lasne – Risensart – La Hulpe). Her husband, Guy Ullens from Schooten, was with her and injured in the leg. Nicolas Ullens de Schooten, Mrs. Lechien’s stepson and son of Mr. Ullens de Schooten, presented himself to the police at around 10:50 am and admitted to killing his stepmother. The suspect appeared before an investigating judge on Thursday, March 30th, and he was charged with murder and a violation of weapon laws. The suspect described his actions as part of a family conflict, especially a financial one. On Sunday, April 2nd, it was reported that during a discussion with Mr. Ullens de Schooten, he was asked to leave the residence of his father and stepmother, and after waiting outside, when the vehicle carrying Mrs. Lechien and Mr. Ullens drove out, Ullens de Schooten allegedly hit their car with his own vehicle before getting out, firing six shots at Mrs. Lechien, killing her. He is scheduled to appear before the council chamber of the Walloon Brabant court of first instance on Monday, April 3rd, regarding the extension of his preventive detention. Mrs. Lechien was a baroness, businesswoman, and a woman of fashion and heart.

Previously, Mr. Nicolas Ullens de Schooten (57 years old), the son of Mr. Ullens de Schooten and step-son of Mrs. Myriam Lechien had presented himself spontaneously to the local police of La Mazerine around 10:50 am. After a discussion that would have gone badly in the residence of his father and his stepmother, Mr Nicolas Ullens de Schooten would have been asked to leave the premises because his father and his stepmother had to leave. He would have waited for the exit of the vehicle piloted by his mother-in-law in which his father was the front passenger.

When the vehicle arrived, he allegedly hit it with his own car and then got out and fired several times in the direction of Mrs. Myriam Lechien. According to the findings on the spot, the suspect would have fired 6 times. He must appear this Monday, April 3 before the council chamber of the Walloon Brabant court of first instance, which must rule on the confirmation and extension of the preventive detention.

The death of Baroness Myriam Lechien has caused shock and sadness throughout the community. As the investigation continues into the senseless act of violence that took her life, our hearts go out to her loved ones and all those affected by this tragedy.
