Battlefield may have a solo campaign again

After the troubled and highly criticized launch of Battlefield 2042, the war game franchise could see the return of a single-player campaign as a “salvation”. According to Insider Gaming, DICE is currently working on a single-player campaign project.

For now, detailed information has not been revealed, which means it is not possible to say whether the single-player content is an entirely new game for the series or a DLC for Battlefield 2042.

Battlefield will return to a single-player campaign

Also according to information shared by Insider Gaming, DICE would be working on the new single-player content alongside Ridgeline Games, which some time ago already warned that it would be involved in a franchise campaign.

Rebecka Coutaz, General Manager of DICE, commented on the decision to form a team focused on single-player projects at DICE, stating that with this the developer wants to give more resources to global teams. Check out Coutaz’s words below.

Our decision to create a single player team at DICE was to resource our global teams for the next chapter of the Battlefield experience. Now, we can expand the opportunities and benefit from new talent that will help Ridgeline write this story.

Battlefield 2042 did not have a good reception

Developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts, Battlefield 2042 was released in 2021 with many problems. Full of bugs and not pleasing for other reasons as well, the title did not get a good reception from both critics and the public, and ended up accumulating low marks and many complaints.

The game arrived with the proposal of having only one online multiplayer title, along the lines of a GaaS (game as a service). However, despite the commitment of the developers and new features such as new seasons, the title has still not been able to turn around. Now, EA and DICE seem interested in regaining players’ interest by bringing back a single-player campaign, trying to repeat the success of highly praised games like Battlefield 3 and 4.
