A broken down train…and on fire! As announced by our colleagues from RTL Info, a fire broke out in one of the cars. “It happened around 9:30 a.m. First there were strange noises then a woman screamed,” a commuter explained to our colleagues. “A small explosion occurred right next to me with a flashback. The fire alarm then went off.”
An hour and a half later, the passengers were evacuated. The train is awaiting repair.
Elisa Roux, spokesperson for SNCB, confirms that a breakdown occurred “at 10:20 a.m. with the start of a fire. This was immediately extinguished by our driver; the travelers were evacuated safely by the attendant. No one was put in danger.”
