Bérode, from Liégeois Quentin Maquet, wins the Franc’off

“This year, the Franc’off was in a slightly different formula” , immediately recalls the co-director of the Francos, Charles Gardier. Indeed, after the selections that took place in Huy, it was a final that took place the first three days in Spa with the last three groups in contention. “But from the selections in Huy, we really had an average level of quality which has never been so high. The artists took advantage of the confinement to work and prepare well.” To decide between these musicians, a jury was formed with in particular Marka and the actor Jean-Luc Couchard who accompanied Hugues Debatty and his entire team. “We deliberated after seeing the three groups explains Marka. One day is not the other, so some played in the rain, others in the sun. We even had a toilet emptying truck that passed by! Some have complained about it, but I find it great because the stage job is full of accidents. Truce of suspense: it is Bérode who is the winner of this edition of Fran’off. Behind this brand new project, we find Quentin Maquet, a 35-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Liège and thinking head of the Dalton Telegramme group. He is ahead of Lou K, second, and Major Dubreucq, third. As for Bérode, he therefore had the opportunity to play a second time this Saturday. And it will be on the bill again at the Francos de Spa next year.
