The first division of Colombian football is close to knowing its finalist teams for the BetPlay League 2023-II, but after four contested dates, there are already three eliminated, with Águilas Doradas, América and Cali being the ones that no longer have a choice.

However, after América’s 1-0 home defeat against Atlético Nacional, the team led by Lucas González lost four games in the B quadrangular and did not show the good performance it had in the round-robin phase.

After that match, many wonder about the causes of America’s failure in home runs in which it has not scored any points, but regarding this, the mayor of Cali, Jorge Iván Ospina, raised doubts about what is happening with sports betting in Colombia and pointed not only to the atypical moment of the scarlet team, but also of Águilas, who arrived undefeated, but failed to compete in the best way.

“Something tells me, and I ask for a national and international audit in this regard, that betting increased its level of influence in Colombian soccer, there is no other way I can explain that two hyperfavorite teams América and Águilas have had such a failure,” said the mayor. Jorge Iván Ospina on his X social network.

For now, we will have to wait for América to finish its two remaining games against Millonarios and Medellín, in which its objective is to add points that will help them not end the year with such a negative balance.
