While Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen led the pursuit of Ruhpolding until the start of the last lap, it was Johannes Dale-Skjevdal who had the last word in front of his compatriot and Johannes Thingnes Boe. After a complicated start to the race, Emilien Jacquelin took fourth place.

The Norwegian team sent a very clear message this weekend to Ruhpolding. After the victory during the relay this Thursday then that of Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen this Saturday during the sprint, it was a hat-trick that the Norwegian selection offered itself this Sunday at the end of the pursuit. A race which has long seen Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen build on the lead gained after the sprint. Author of a faultless shot on the first two shots, he kept his first pursuers to more than 20 seconds. However, an uncleared target forced him to make a first pass through the penalty ring, jeopardizing his first position. Fortunately for him, Tarjei Boe also missed a target when Johannes Dale-Skjevdal had to do two laps, dropping from third to fifth place 40 seconds behind. Solid on the skis, Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen was able to regain ground over the 2500 meters of the fourth loopapproaching the last shot standing with a margin of 20 seconds over Tarjei Boe when Johannes Thingnes Boe, without making any noise, moved up to third place at 44 seconds. It was then that the sky fell on the leader’s head.

Dale-Skjevdal a saisi sa chance

Visibly nervous with rifle in hand, he clearly missed two targets, just like Tarjei Boe. Which completely reignited the suspense, Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen coming out neck and neck with Johannes Thingnes Boe but, above all, with five biathletes separated by only three seconds including Emilien Jacquelin, who was able to erase the time lost after his three shooting errors in the first half of the race. Victory was decided just over 700 meters from the finish line, when Johannes Dale-Skjevdal took advantage of a bump to accelerate to which no one was able to respond. After the Hochfilzen sprint in December 2020 then the Mass Start of Grand-Bornand in December 2022, the Norwegian signs his third individual victory in the World Cup in a Norwegian hat-trick. Indeed, he beat Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen and Johannes Thingnes Boe. Not having been able to follow in the finale, Emilien Jacquelin took a good fourth place when Eric Perrot was able to move up to ninth position. While Quentin Fillon-Maillet gave up this pursuit, Fabien Claude finished 23rd, just ahead of Oscar Lombardot. With this third place, Johannes Thingnes Boe remains firmly at the top of the general World Cup rankings, ahead of his brother Tarjei, only seventh.
