“I just met with my national security team to get an update on Iran’s attacks on Israel. Our commitment to the security of Israel against the threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad,” Biden posted on the X social network today, Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 5:24 p.m.

According to an EFE dispatch dated in Washington, the president accompanied his message in , and of Defense, Lloyd Austin, among others.

Both Biden and Blinken, who appear from the front, are seen with a serious countenance, wearing a suit but without a tie.

The National Security team, meeting in an emergency this Saturday afternoon, also included the director of the CIA, Bill Burns; to the White House National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Charles Brown, among others, as previously reported by the White House.

Biden was scheduled to spend the weekend at his beach residence in Delaware but returned unexpectedly just before the Iranian attack with drones and missiles on Israeli territory was confirmed.

This offensive occurs in retaliation to Israel for the attack against the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, which occurred on April 1 and caused the death of seven members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, in addition to destroying the building attached to the embassy in Tehran, which was the residence of the Iranian ambassador.
