Board highlights the importance of promoting emotional well-being to strengthen mental health

Valdelacalzada has hosted this conference organized by the Comprehensive Association of Vegas Bajas Services and which was also attended by the General Director of Social Services, Children and Families, Carmen Núñez.

Juan Antonio González has highlighted the need to raise awareness and sensitize, but also to “normalize” everything related to mental health, “a problem for which today there are professionals willing to treat it.”

In addition, it has valued the advances in Science and the resources put in place by public administrations for the treatment of cancer and other diseases.

Along with this, he recalled that the region’s budgets for this 2023 include an item of more than 11 million euros to respond to mental health in the region.

According to the spokesperson, one of the “pioneering” measures implemented is the ‘Extremadura responds’ program, of which he has ensured that, during the first week of operation, from February 13 to 19, said program “responded to 214 demands for advice”, so “we are facing a problem of the first division”.

The spokesman for the regional Executive has also referred to the relationship between mental health and happiness and has warned that “the capitalist system leads us towards a false happiness”, for which he has exposed the need to achieve well-being, both physical and emotional.

Finally, González thanked the visibility that “fundamental” conferences like these give to “normalize mental health”, while remarking “the increasing demand that there is from society”.
