[キーウ(キエフ) 5日 ロイター] – Ukrainian state-owned nuclear company Energoatom said on Friday that high-voltage transmission lines at the Russian-controlled Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, one of the largest in Europe, in southeastern Ukraine had been hit by Russian forces. The plant remains operational and no radioactive leaks have been detected, he said.

It also said it had decided to disconnect one of the reactors after a 330-kilowatt high-voltage distribution line connecting the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and the Zaporozhye thermal power plant was damaged.

Meanwhile, authorities in the Russian-occupied southeastern city of Enerkhodar said Ukrainian military shelling had cut power lines at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. A fire broke out on the premises of the nuclear power plant, and the power needed to safely operate the reactor was cut off.

Contrary to Ukrainian accounts, two power lines that supply electricity to a 750-kilowatt switchgear were hit by shelling and cut.
