The entrepreneurial growth of young people and the transformation of innovative ideas into concrete projects requires support. This is precisely the objective of the Boost Up Lab program launched in Agadir this February at the Agadir Technopark.

The wali of Souss-Massa, Saaïd Amzazi, attended the kick-off of this second edition of its kind. The first took place last year in Casablanca. Dedicated today to pre-incubation, the operation is a support program supported by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform. It aims to support innovative projects in the NICT, renewable energy and cultural and creative industries sectors.

There are 21 participants, made up of idea leaders and young start-ups who are currently involved in this program this year. Virtual reality and augmented reality, artificial intelligence, robotics, internet of things, electronic document management, digital artistic objects, E-tourism, the projects of the program participants fall into different innovative fields, indicates Zakaria Oulad, consultant in charge of the program. According to him, the Boost Up Lab initiative is experiencing particular enthusiasm with very significant demand from the different provinces and prefectures in the region. “It is interesting to note how the pandemic has changed the profile of innovative project leaders by making entrepreneurship more attractive. We have received a lot of requests from people in career change with experience ranging from 10 to 30 years and successful careers in their respective fields,” he adds. The start-up ecosystem is thus enriched by new experiences and expertise. It is also a plus for the Agadir Technopark to see so many entrepreneurial and technical skills joining its network of start-ups. “The Boost Up Lab program embodies our unwavering commitment to the entrepreneurial development of young people, offering quality support to transform innovative ideas into concrete projects. This intensive course, combining skills development, expert support and mentoring, opens doors to the realization of ambitious projects,” declared Lamiae Benmakhlouf, general director of the Technopark, in this context.

In addition to supporting project leaders in strengthening their entrepreneurial skills to stimulate the emergence of innovative projects within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, this program will make it possible to identify potential candidates who can join the Agadir Technopark. As a reminder, the Technopark Souss-Massa entered into activity in 2022. With a capacity to accommodate 100 start-ups, it today records an occupancy rate of 65%.

As a reminder, the establishment of this establishment is part of the Industrial Acceleration Plan for the Souss-Massa region. It aims to support the dynamics of entrepreneurship and innovation in the Souss Massa region. It is therefore the emergence of a new generation of startups in perspective which will make it possible to position the region in new strategic sectors. To boost the establishment’s occupancy rate, it remains to further connect it with academic circles in the region to transform the innovative ideas of the winners into concrete projects creating jobs. Too many ideas and innovations remain unpatented in faculties today. A collective approach in synergy between public decision-makers, the business community and training circles can well boost the innovative entrepreneurship of young people. There is no shortage of financial support programs set up in the region to support the act of entrepreneurship. You just have to dare.
