Boris Šťastný is so eager for conservative values that he joined ANO from ODS

OPINION/ Doctor, Boris Šťastný, a well-known member of the ODS between 2006 and 2013, the party’s health expert and advisor to Václav Klaus, has finally found his identity. Eleven years ago, he left the ODS because, according to him, the party “abandoned its ideas and betrayed its voters.” But now he found outthat he can realize his purest ideas in the ranks of Andrej Babiš’s ANO unit.

Boris Šťastný applied for membership in ANO half a year ago. He says that he thinks that no ODS has existed for ten years, there is only Spolu. “I haven’t changed, my positions have remained the same, for example regarding fiscal policy,” claims Šťastný, who now joins the biggest spenders from the state budget in the history of the Czech Republic. He is troubled by the life of the elderly, for whom “the price of a roll has risen” and who suffer from inflation. He has allegedly voted for ANO since leaving the ODS. He is against the adoption of the euro, the Green Deal, “illegal migration” and that a referendum should be held on the euro because “the situation has changed”.

He characterizes himself as a conservative politician, and Babiš is said to have “always explained” his opinions. The fact that ANO is in the liberal faction in the European Parliament does not bother him as a conservative, because “he is indifferent in this respect”. He is a member of the shadow minister Juchelka’s commission, ANO, which was in the government for eight years, is not to blame for the non-implementation of the pension reform, but the opposition, because “there was no agreement”, covid is to blame for the astronomical budget deficits. He wants a “cheap state” and stuff like that.

Basically gibberish that could be summed up in the sentence “I want a chair”. Arguments why he wants a seat in the senate were probably written by artificial intelligence in a demo version. (Who would care if YES voters swallow everything.)

There is no point in engaging in that subpar rhetorical exercise. YES is not a normal political party. It is a special purpose organization founded by Andrej Babiš to facilitate and defend his business and, if possible, to complicate the investigation of his suspicious business antics. ANO is Babiš and Babiš is YES. Therefore, in the election of the president, the percentages approaching the DPRK are getting. If he left tomorrow, the so-called party would disappear the day after tomorrow. As part of the “Palermo” of the 90s, Babiš could never take his anti-corruption mythology seriously. All those “guys and girls” from the posters and billboards that the boss lured in and jumped on it, or so they said, are gone now. ANO is neither left-wing, nor right-wing, nor conservative, nor liberal. Is nothing. It is a completely amorphous entity.

Joining something like that is incomprehensible to someone with even basic self-respect. When someone is able and willing to end up as a member of “shadow minister Juchelka’s” commission, there is no need to discuss it in depth. If someone does not have self-respect and judgment, no one from the outside will give it to them.
