No discount from Bossi to Salvini, therefore. And, when someone asks him if the alternative could be represented by the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, the answer is very clear. “He’s a good guy, I won’t say it otherwise they’ll massacre him.” He then adds: “I heard from him last night, today he is in Luxembourg, he will return this evening.” As for Salvini, he says: «I haven’t heard from him. I have to tell the truth – he adds – I expected him to appear without saying anything.”
About a hundred Northern League supporters flocked to Gemonio
In Gemonio there are around a hundred Northern League supporters to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the League. Roberto Castelli and Paolo Grimoldi were present together with the other founder of the Lombard League Giuseppe Leoni as well as the former honorable Dario Galli. In the town in the province of Varese they arrived from Lombardy, but also from Umbria and Marche, to pay homage to Bossi who, with his son Renzo, received those present outside his home. And, among these, the attacks against Salvini are different. «Salvini is a traitor, the League has no longer existed for twelve years. Salvini has betrayed all our ideals”, attacks Modesto Verderio, Bossi’s first driver and one of the first militants of the League.

The founder then also focuses on the choices made by the Meloni executive. «It is a government that unfortunately does not have the money and therefore without money it is difficult to do many things. When you govern, you have to deliver results, and it is very difficult”, clarifies the Senatur, speaking to reporters outside his home.
Deputy Secretary Crippa’s reply
Before Salvini’s response, the reply had arrived from his entourage. From Salvini’s entourage, however, the reply signed by the deputy secretary, Andrea Crippa, did not take long to arrive. «Matteo Salvini is the one who brought the League to 35% and to be central on the Italian and European scene. It is thanks to him that today the League is a party that can determine the future of Italy and Europe. Umberto Bossi founded the League and without him it would not have existed; without Salvini the League would not exist.” I believe, adds Crippa, «that the figure of Salvini is essential. If he runs, I will definitely vote for Salvini at the party congress because his project is a winner. In a few weeks, among other things, we will vote on autonomy, which will bring benefits to the North, the Center and the South. I haven’t understood what the alternative project to Salvini’s could be. Apart from the leadership, I don’t understand what an alternative project could be: maybe it exists but they have to explain it.”
