Brad Keselowski issued a sharp warning to Carson Hocevar following an on-track collision during the Chase opener at Darlington Raceway. Near the end of Stage 1 on Lap 107 of the Cook Out Southern 500, Hocevar’s No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet made contact with the left-rear of Keselowski’s No. 6 RFK Racing Ford. The impact sent the 2012 Cup Series champion spinning out of Turn 4 and immediately brought out the caution.

The timing of the incident proved pivotal due to a procedural change implemented in August to curb long caution periods. Because the yellow flag flew with fewer than 10 laps remaining in Stage 1, the segment ended immediately rather than running the remaining eight scheduled laps. Tyler Reddick was awarded the stage win based on the running order at the caution.
While Hocevar recovered from a 34th-place start to finish 11th, Keselowski suffered another spin later in the race and finished 23rd. Visibly angry after the event, Keselowski stated, “He ran into me,” and delivered a stern message regarding future retaliation: His day’s coming and it’s coming hard. Watch out, Carson.
Hocevar Deflects Criticism With Sarcastic Post-Race Remarks
Hocevar’s reaction to the spin and subsequent threats only heightened the tension in the garage. When interviewed about the incident, the 23-year-old rookie smiled and offered dismissive remarks, stating, “He spun,” and adding, I don't know what happened. He spun.
When questioned about his aggressive driving style and Keselowski’s anger, Hocevar leaned into his developing reputation for rubbing rivals the wrong way. He told Motorsport and other outlets that his demeanor is entirely intentional. I do everything for TV and entertainment purposes, based off everybody else, so I don’t know — whatever makes good TV. I just do it for the clicks, you know what I mean?
he said. Informed of Keselowski’s veiled threat of payback, Hocevar responded, “I’ll tighten my belts.”
The driver’s nonchalant attitude drew sharp criticism from broadcast analysts and NASCAR Hall of Famers Jeff Burton and Dale Jarrett. Burton condemned the response, noting that drivers will eventually grow tired of the behavior. That’s a champion,

Additionally, RFK Racing highlighted the growing paddock tension by sharing a graphic featuring critical labels previously used by other drivers against Hocevar, including “iPad Kid” and “moron.”

Known as “The Hurricane,” Hocevar secured his first Cup Series victory earlier in the season at Talladega and entered the 16-driver postseason field as the No. 12 seed. he explained, adding that he does not plan to monitor points closely until the end of the run.
