Brasilia: Brazil is burning. According to reports, the highest ever temperature of 44.8 degree Celsius has been recorded in recent days. Some parts of the country are experiencing a heat wave. The city of Aracuai, in the south-eastern state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, experienced record heat on Sunday.

Temperatures in Brazil usually do not exceed 40 degrees Celsius. But now the increase in temperature is attributed to the El Nino phenomenon and climate change.

Arasuwa’s high temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius surpassed the country’s previous record of 44.7 degrees Celsius in 2005. But the official figure released two weeks ago shows that the average temperature in the country was very high from July to October.

According to the National Institute of Meteorology, temperatures will touch 40 degrees Celsius only in three state capitals. Warnings were issued across the country weeks before the start of summer in the Southern Hemisphere. But weather forecasters say that the heat will ease a little in the coming days.
