Hundreds of administrative positions no longer require a college degree at Walmart in the United States.
This company decision is motivated by a desire to take more consideration of the skills of candidates.
“While degrees should be part of the equation and in some cases even required, there are many roles for which a degree is simply not necessary,” reads a posting on its website .
People who apply for these positions will therefore be able to show their college diploma or demonstrate that they have the necessary skills to carry out their tasks.
Walmart also indicates that it wants this measure to stop hindering the advancement of certain non-qualified employees to more senior positions in the company.
Walmart joins several other employers such as Dell, IBM and Bank of America, which have adopted policies of this type in recent months, according to the New York Post.
