Bregenz police were looking for allegedly armed

An allegedly armed man triggered a major police operation in Bregenz on Wednesday afternoon. We were looking for two people, but nothing was known of a shooting, and no one was injured. After the search was stopped, the police assumed that the weapon must have been a softgun.

The two men, one of whom is said to have handled a weapon, stopped around the Mehrerau complex on the shore of Lake Bregenz at about 15.30 clock. According to ORF Radio Vorarlberg, students from the third and fourth grades of the Mehrerau elementary school made corresponding observations.

The search for the two men continued until the early hours of the evening before it was stopped. A helicopter was also deployed. For safety reasons, bike paths and footpaths in the Mehrerau area were closed.
