Marton Vamos in the attack assisted by Konstantinos Gouvis and Marko Bijats in the defense who pulled down rolls were the standouts of the “red and whites”, who welcome Ferentsvaros in the “Papastrateio” next matchday with the aim of getting the revenge from the Hungarians and “lock” their participation in another Final Four.
Olympiacos entered the match ideally, as they were lucky to open the scoring in their first attack with Alafragkis. Dimos, Alifragkakis and Gouvis successively equalized at 5-5, 6-6 and 7-7, before the latter with his second personal goal from the spot kick put Olympiakos in front with 8-7, a score that also ended the second eight minutes.
An example of the criticality of the match and the fact that Brescia was playing its last card was the thirst of the Italians to stay in the match and not allow Olympiacos to get away.
They initially tied at 8-8, then at 9-9, while with Irving they led 10-9, before the “red and whites” responded with two goals from Papanastasiou and Vamos, who scored a great goal from the perimeter after three fakes who emptied his opponent.
Bijats’ saves, the goal-line save in the Italians’ last attack and Vamos’ goal gave Olympiakos a two-goal lead, closing the third eight minutes perfectly.
