Singer Britney Spears has warned that she will sue her sister, Jamie Lynn, if she continues to make “disparaging” comments about her while promoting a new book.

Britney’s lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, said the book’s publication was “poorly timed”, adding that it contained many “misleading allegations”.

Although Britney has not read the book, she believes her sister “used it for financial gain,” the lawyer said.

“She won’t and shouldn’t tolerate it,” Rosengart said in a no-exposure order.

Jamie Lynn has not commented publicly on this.

Britney and her sister have been engaged in a battle of words since Jamie Lynn appeared on Good Morning America to promote her book last week.

The book is believed to cover Jamie Lynn’s life, including the nearly fatal accident in 2017, her relationship with Britney and the role she played in Britney’s controversial father’s guardianship.

In the application, Rosengart warns, “Publicly publishing false or imaginary grievances is wrong, especially when it is designed to sell books. It is also potentially illegal and defamatory.”

“You mentioned recently that the book is ‘not about her’,” he added. Britney reminds you of that, and therefore, we ask that you stop and desist from referring to Britney with disdain during your campaign.”

“If she doesn’t do this or tarnishes her reputation, Britney will have to take all appropriate legal action,” he said.

During the last interview, Jamie Lynn described herself as “my sister’s biggest supporter” and said she had “taken steps to help” end the guardianship.

But according to ABC, she also describes Britney’s past behavior as “messy” and “perceived with persecution”.

In an podcast released on Tuesday, Jamie Lynn said her sister started “changing” in 2002. She also described an incident in which Britney locked herself in a room with a knife and told Jamie Lynn that she was “scared.”

“She was a wonderful young woman and she was going through a hard time, and if she couldn’t stand up on her own, someone had to,” Jamie Lynn said.

In response to the interview, Britney said she was “disturbed” because her sister described her behavior as “out of control”.

“You’ve never been by my side in 15 years at the time…why should we even talk about it unless you want to sell a book at the cost of my life.”

In a more recent Instagram post, she described Jamie Lynn as spoiled, saying, “This was never my life.”

Jamie Lynn responded by saying that her book isn’t just about Britney, adding, “It’s no help that I was born into the Spears family too and some of my experiences include my sister.”

“Quite frankly, what is being said is not the truth at all,” she wrote on Instagram.

accusations by taking advantage

Separately, Britney objected to her father’s request that his daughter continue to pay his legal fees, despite having him suspended as her guardian before her guardianship was terminated last year.

In documents filed in Los Angeles, the star’s legal team revealed that Jamie Spears paid himself “at least $6 million from his daughter’s estate over the 13 years of her tenure as her trustee, including a payment of $192,000 in 2020.”

The documents claim that Jimmy used some of this money for his “own purposes”, including trying to run a TV cooking show.

Britney’s lawyers said he had also “asked dozens of different law firms” to pay fees “more than $30 million”. Some of this money is believed to have been used “to suppress the #FreeBritney movement and to prosecute Britney Spears supporters”.

The court file also includes a statement from Shireen Ebadi, a former FBI special agent who was assigned to investigate Jamie’s oversight of Britney’s guardianship.

Among her findings, Ebadi confirms a New York Times report first published last year that a “secret listening device” was installed in Britney’s bedroom “with her father’s direction and consent.”

It also stated that a security company cloned Britney’s phone to monitor her text messages, “including her communications with her lawyer.”

Jimmy Spears has not yet responded to these allegations. He had previously denied abusing his position, saying he was working for his “daughter’s interests”.
