Thomas (assumed name), has been living in real hell for several months. As our colleagues from RTL Info report, this Brussels resident bought a second-hand bed for his daughter in August. Only, the furniture was infested with bedbugs.
“We installed the bed and three weeks later, I was bitten”, testifies this father who must, since, live in an apartment infested by these insects. “We found lots of insects in the drawers of the bed we bought. But that, we saw it afterwards and everything was already installed. It was full of insects, you could see them moving in the gaps. It was really disgusting,” says Thomas.
Now, he has several tricks to avoid a new proliferation of these bugs: each piece of clothing purchased second-hand goes into a dryer for 3 days at a temperature of -30 degrees.
Thomas’ daily life was completely shaken up by this purchase: “This story cost me a two-month burnout because I didn’t sleep. Afterwards, I got tough. I am not someone who lets go. But it’s not taken seriously because it doesn’t convey disease,” he explains before continuing: “I no longer slept, I woke up at night.”
