BTS Seoul concert, 40 billion won in ticket sales through live streaming in theaters around the world

3rd place at the North American box office in just one day… Sold out in LA and other places

The group BTS’ Seoul concert was broadcast live in theaters around the world, generating more than 40 billion won in ticket sales.

The American entertainment media Variety reported on the 13th (local time) that the BTS concert recorded a global box office of 32.6 million dollars (0.3 billion won).

BTS held the second performance of ‘Permission to Dance on Stage-Seoul’ on the 12th in Korean time, and this stage was broadcast in real time at 3,711 movie theaters in 75 countries around the world.

The BTS Seoul concert sold $6.84 million (8.46 billion won) in ticket sales in theaters in North America.

Variety said, “It is rare for a one-night (movie theater) event to broadcast live BTS concerts with blockbuster results.”

The BTS concert was screened in 803 theaters in the United States and Canada.

Tickets cost $35, which is about four times the average price of a movie theater ticket in North America at $9.

However, multiplex cinemas in Los Angeles (LA), San Francisco, Dallas, Houston and Chicago continued to sell out, Variety reported.

With the enthusiasm of fans, the BTS concert ranked third at the North American weekend box office following ‘Batman’ ($66 million) starring Robert Pattinson and ‘Uncharted’ ($9.2 million) starring Tom Holland.

“The BTS concert box office is surprising and unprecedented,” said Paul Duggeravidian, senior media analyst at market research firm ComScore.

Distributor Trafalgar Released said, “This is evidence of the overwhelming fandom of ‘Army’ (BTS fan club) and the return of global audiences to the theaters, regarding the success of the live broadcast of the BTS concert.
