MIAMI (AP) — Coby White scored 26 points, Ayo Donsumu had 24 off the bench, and the Chicago Bulls took a big lead before relaxing for a 124-116 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday.
Nikola Vucevic finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for the Bulls. White added 11 assists and seven rebounds, while DeMar DeRozan had 23 for Chicago.
The Bulls started the game on a 33-8 run and never looked back.
Mexican Jaime Jáquez Jr. scored 22 points for Miami, which played for the second consecutive night. Jimmy Butler scored 20 points, Kyle Lowry and Caleb Martin each had 17, while Kevin Love added 16 for the Heat.
Chicago’s 25-point lead in the first quarter was the second largest in that period ever seen in the NBA this season. Boston held a 26-point lead over Washington.
The Bulls had not had such a lead in the opening period of a game since January 31, 1997, when they went up to 35-8 against Golden State on a basket by Michael Jordan.
