Person A is suspected of sending messages containing profanity to the social media account of person B, the victim of the Busan roundhouse kick incident, on several occasions since around August of last year.
He is said to have continued to send criticism messages such as “Come to your senses” and “You almost enjoy attracting attention” when Mr. B engaged in various activities through social media to help victims of incidents similar to his own. At that time, it is said that Mr. A spoke harshly to Mr. B, using profanity and words derogatory to women, and also made remarks to the effect of “I will hit you.”
The police, who received a complaint from Mr. B, identified Mr. A and booked him after tracing his overseas IP address. It is reported that Mr. A continued to harm Mr. B even as the police investigation was ongoing. The police plan to summon Mr. A soon for questioning.
Meanwhile, the Busan roundhouse kick incident is a ‘no-questions-asked crime’ in which a man in his 30s in Busan indiscriminately attempted to sexually assault Mr. B while he was waiting for the officetel elevator.
The perpetrator in this case was indicted on charges of attempting to kill victim B by assaulting him in the common entrance of an officetel after chasing victim B, who was returning home from Busanjin-gu, Busan, for about 10 minutes at around 5 a.m. on May 2 last year (rape and other murder under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act), and was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Supreme Court.
