but at what cost ?

After drawing a line under meatless burgers (McPlant), the American fast-food giant wants to bounce back with a Happy Meal menu for… adults! This will only be available in a limited edition and in the United States.

A few days ago, the American fast-food company announced via social networks a new addition to its menu: a Happy Meal designed for adults. This limited edition of the famous children’s menu will allow the older ones to take a step back.

Tariq Hassan, the brand’s marketing director, praised having created here “one of the most nostalgic McDonald’s experiences” that “we are repackaging in a new way that is hyper-relevant for our adult fans”. From October 3, American restaurants will distribute the Happy Meal for adults with, of course, a toy inside.

The box (green) and the toy come from a collaboration with the Cactus Plant Flea Market clothing brand. In the Happy Meal, adults will be able to find a figurine bearing the image of an emblematic character from the restaurant chain (Hamburglar, Birdie or Grimace) or even a Cactus Buddy character! imagined by the partner brand.

It is experiencing unprecedented success thanks to choice ambassadors such as Travis Scott, Kanye West, Cara Delevingne and Kid Cudi. For its part, McDonald’s has accustomed us in recent years to collaborations with artists to boost its sales: Travis Scott himself or the Korean group BTS have enabled the American group to increase its sales.

What’s in the box? What is the price ?

By default, the Happy Meal menu for children contains a burger (Croque McDo, Hamburger, McFish, vegetarian) or 4 Chicken McNuggets, a small portion of fries or vegetables, a drink, a dessert and the famous toy.

The adult version will be more consistent since the company will offer a Big Mac or a box of 10 Chicken McNuggets. They will also be entitled to fries and a drink as standard. If McDonald’s has not yet communicated on the price of the adult version, we can estimate the price of this Happy Meal for adults by comparing with other menus in the range.

For example, a menu with 10 nuggets with a portion of medium fries and a drink costs $8.89. The same goes for the alternative version with a Big Mac. It would therefore not be surprising to see this Happy Meal for adults being sold around $9 to $10. In the United States, the child version of this menu is available for approximately $3.69. In France, the Happy Meal for the little ones costs between 4 and 4.6 euros on average.

In addition, the firm announces that those who order their Happy Meal XL via the official McDonald’s application will also participate in a draw with the key, t-shirts, sweaters and other accessories stamped with the logos of the two brands.

Can we expect this Happy Meal menu from the big ones in France? No one knows. Everything will depend on the success of this new formula across the Atlantic.

And you, what do you think of this formula? It’s validated ? ????
