Phil Spencer gave interview publication CNBC, in which he discussed competition in the gaming industry after purchases Activision Blizzard.

According to him, deal with Activision Blizzard will help make Microsoft more competitive in the industry. Spencer named mobile devices as the largest gaming platforms on the planet – and it is these that he considers the main competitors. Together with Activision Blizzard, Microsoft will be able to “compensate for the distribution of content that is not available on mobile devices.”

Spencer also noted that there are now more specialists on the platform than ever before.

“We have games from major publishers like SHE, Activision и Take-Two. But we also have a lot of games created by small teams of developers that can reach a global audience through PC and game consoles. It’s an incredibly dynamic space right now.”

Recall that the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard will close in fiscal year 2023, between July 2022 and June 2023. Bobby Kotick previously said, that this deal will help last to create the metaverse.
