With a win at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Borussia Dortmund can take the lead in the Bundesliga table on Friday evening (8.30 p.m., live on DAZN), at least for a few hours. BVB coach Edin Terzic is positive about the duel with their neighbors in the table (5th): “We have had a good week of training behind us, we have worked a lot and well. Every player fights for his chance to be in the starting eleven,” said Edin Terzic at the press conference on Thursday afternoon.

BVB is hoping for Sabitzer’s return quickly

The 40-year-old is still spoiled for choice when it comes to personnel. Thomas Meunier (muscle injury) and Mateu Morey (knee injury) should return to training during the upcoming international break, Marcel Sabitzer (adductor injury) possibly again next week.

TSG goes into the game with the recommendation of four wins in a row: “Hoffenheim started with an unfortunate defeat. Now they are on a good run, but that was also the case with Freiburg and Wolfsburg,” explained Terzic.

BVB coach Terzic makes a bold promise

With eleven points from five games, the Black and Yellows are on target, but there is still room for improvement in terms of play: “We are developing in the right direction,” said Terzic – and promised: “We will soon be playing exciting football again.”

All statements from the BVB press conference:

12:51 p.m.: The press conference is over.

12.49 p.m.: Edin Terzic on the performance: “We can be satisfied with the points scored. We had the necessary control again against Wolfsburg. But we also gave up points unnecessarily and played too wildly against Heidenheim and Bochum. We will get back to showing exciting football.”

12.47 p.m.: Edin Terzic on Emre Can and Marco Reus: “Emre is an extremely important player for us. He handled the decision not to play from the start professionally. Marco is having a really good run. Thanks to his good short appearances, he deserved to play from the start.”

12.45 p.m.: Edin Terzic on the strikers’ zero goals: “That’s an issue. It was similar at the beginning of last season. We have to get back into the dangerous areas. We talked about that this week too. Most of the time the knot breaks with an assist.”

12.43 p.m.: Edin Terzic on the running performance so far: “We are early in the season, we are one of the top teams in the league in the sprints. You can’t say who runs more wins more games. The opponents run a lot against us, which is a good sign of control.”

12.40 p.m.: Edin Terzic on the competitive situation: “The competition for regular places is always important. I have all the strikers in mind when it comes to the first eleven. Niclas Füllkrug is an open guy who already knew one or two of the squad. He’s just getting more and more stable. He is an important player for us. Sebastien Haller offered training again and left a good impression.”

12.39 p.m.: Edin Terzic about TSG Hoffenheim: “They are doing really well and are having a good run. They are particularly dangerous in counterattack situations. They are even more dangerous in standard situations. We know we have to improve. Beier is the current shooting star, he has also scored important goals.”

12.38 p.m.: Edin Terzic about Karim Adeyemi: “Of course he was unhappy that he didn’t play recently. But he worked extra shifts.”

12.37: Edin Terzic on Julian Brandt: “Julian can play in many positions. He always makes good offers for depth and can also radiate danger there. He is an important factor when it comes to standards.

12.35 p.m.: Edin Terzic on Emre Can: “I won’t say yet whether he will play on Friday. All press representatives will find out 60 minutes before the game.”

12.33 p.m.: Edin Terzic about the training week: “We had a good training week. All the boys made a good impression.”

12.31 p.m.: Edin Terzic on the staff: “Mateu Morey, Thomas Meunier and Marcel Sabitzer are still out.”

12.30 p.m.: Edin Terzic is here, the press conference begins.

12.00 p.m.: Welcome to our live ticker. The press conference with BVB coach Edin Terzic begins in 30 minutes before the Bundesliga game at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Friday (8.30 p.m., live on DAZN).
