This Canadian tourist would never have imagined living such an adventure while passing through the Belgian capital. On his TikTok account, the young man will recount the 24 hours he spent in Brussels, worthy of a spy film.

Friday night

Before going to the airport, Tony Aube goes through the Gare du Midi. No luck for this tourist, he has his backpack stolen, containing his passport and his laptop.

Thanks to an AirTag, a device for locating his belongings, the young man tries to track his robbers. Unfortunately with his big suitcase, it’s hard for him to keep up. Just when he thought he had caught up with them, the thieves got rid of the tracking gadget.

The Canadian tourist then decides to go and make a statement at a police station. If Tony’s laptop emits a geolocator signal, the police cannot intervene. It is indeed necessary a precise address and a definite apartment before being able to start an arrest procedure. Tony can’t do anything right now and so goes to bed.

Saturday morning

The next morning, the computer appears at another address, near Jette. Tony is stuck and tells himself that he only has one mission left for the weekend: “And then shit, I’m missing my plane because of these guys and I’m stuck until Monday morning waiting for the embassy reopens. I have only one goal: ‘find these bastards’”, he explains in his video.

Around 8 a.m., he goes to his laptop stolen the day before. He stops in front of a house and knocks on the door. Nobody’s answering. He then decides to wait until someone comes out to photograph him. 5 hours later, two men come out of the house under surveillance. He recognizes the two thieves and takes a picture of them. Tony then wonders if he should confront them but he makes the wise decision to do nothing.

Saturday afternoon

The two thugs come out of their house and for Tony the choice is clear: follow them. By following them, Tony realizes an important point in his investigation, the first stop of the day corresponds to the first localization which was not precise enough for the police. He decides to take several pictures.

An hour later, Tony sees the two individuals in front of a store of computers and other telephones. He then thinks that his thieves sold his device to this store. Tony continues to inform the police of his findings. The tourist then decides that he should not be spotted near this business because it could be dangerous. So he returns to the apartment around 5 p.m. where his computer is still and waits patiently.

Saturday night

Around 9 p.m., Tony sees the two crooks and calls the police to take action. And there, like an action movie, the police arrive, ready to arrest the thugs. At 9:30 p.m., the police arrested one of the two men and returned the tourist’s computer. But the story does not end there.

Indeed, in the house where Tony’s stolen belongings were, other finds intrigue the police officers. Hundreds of electronic devices were there: computers, televisions, telephones… Tony had just dismantled a hell of a network of fences. “It’s Ali Baba’s cave”, even declared a policeman to Tony. The police also congratulated the Canadian tourist for his investigation worthy of a real inspector.

Tony then concludes his video with humor by warning the next ones who would try to attack him. “This is what awaits you if you try to steal something from me. Don’t pick on someone like me who has nothing better to do than chase you for a whole weekend”.
