- According to a large Danish study, the presence of cancer may increase the risk of new-onset type 2 diabetes (T2DM), the risk being particularly high in patients with pancreatic cancer.
Why is this important?
- Although it is known that the presence of T2D at the time of cancer diagnosis may increase the risk of cancer-specific and all-cause mortality, it is not clear whether cancer is a risk factor for T2D.
