Car collided with civilian patrol: three police officers injured

As a result of the accident, one police officer and one female police officer were seriously injured and another female officer was slightly injured. A pedestrian also suffered minor injuries from splintered parts, it said in a release on Friday.

Accident driver: “The traffic light was green”

The accident occurred when the 30-year-old driver wanted to drive straight across the intersection of Sechsschimmelgasse and Hernalser Belt and the civilian vehicle tried to cross the belt at the same time. The uninjured 30-year-old later stated in his interviews that his traffic light had shown a green light. However, this was contradicted by an uninvolved witness who reported to the police immediately after the accident.

There was significant damage to both vehicles and a traffic light. The three injured police officers received emergency medical care from the Vienna Professional Rescue Service and were then taken to hospital for further treatment. The two accident cars were removed from the road by the Vienna fire department.
