Bulgarian weightlifting phenomenon Carlos Nasar secured his fourth world title at the World Championships in Ningbo, China, dominating the 95 kg category with a historic total of 415 kg and establishing three new world records across the snatch, clean and jerk, and total lifts.
The Record-Breaking Ascent in Ningbo
Nasar entered the competition in Ningbo with clear tactical intent, methodically dismantling the field in the snatch discipline. gong.bg reported that the 22-year-old athlete successfully managed his weight increases after his coaching staff adjusted his initial entry. Having originally declared 170 kg, the staff bumped the opening weight to 173 kg and finally to 175 kg, which the reigning Olympic champion cleared without trouble. A clean second attempt at 180 kg set the stage for a historic third lift. Nasar locked out 185 kg, securing the gold medal in the snatch and establishing a new world standard.
The competition in the snatch was fiercely contested. Kazakhstan’s Nurgissa Adiletuly pushed the Bulgarian by completing three successful attempts, culminating in an 182 kg lift that briefly held a world benchmark before Nasar’s final surge. Iran’s Ali Alipour also threatened the podium early, finishing the snatch with 181 kg.

Total Dominance in the Clean and Jerk
According to bTV Sport’s live updates from the venue, Nasar opened his clean and jerk campaign at 213 kg, cleanly executing the weight to secure a podium position early. He then jumped to 220 kg on his second attempt, neutralizing any tactical counter-moves from his opponents.
With the gold medal in the total all but secured, Nasar took aim at the ultimate limit. He called for an astonishing 230 kg on his final attempt. As bTV Sport recorded live, the barbell went into the air, and Nasar locked it out to claim the clean and jerk gold and push his overall total to an unprecedented 415 kg.

Nasar Claims Fourth World Title Across Four Divisions
Sportal.bg noted that this victory marks Nasar’s fourth world title across four different weight classes, having previously conquered the 81 kg, 89 kg, and 94 kg divisions. In the pantheon of Bulgarian weightlifting, Nasar now ties legendary figures like Ivan Ivanov in total world titles, leaving only Yanko Rusov ahead of him with five.

Prior to departing for Asia, Nasar made his mindset crystal clear to the press. The athlete stated, “In recent years I have proven that I am the apex predator in weightlifting, so the competition better figure out what it’s going to do. My first goal is to be world champion. The last 30 days were really quite difficult for me. If I have the opportunity, I have the strength and if necessary, then I will make a world record.”
That prophecy was fulfilled on the platform in Ningbo. With Adiletuly taking silver at 399 kg and Alipour claiming bronze with 396 kg, the division features the Bulgarian star as he captures another world title.
