The cultural flagship of the city, the Théâtre des Trois-Ponts is busy almost every day. More than 10,000 spectators pass through its doors every year.
The 2021-2022 programming of the Théâtre des Trois-Ponts was full of spectators this season. The pricing policy of the City, which manages this structure, is an element that can explain this success: in 20 years, the price of the ticket without reduction has only increased by 3 euros. Fares start at 2 euros for children and can go up to 15 euros for a full price. The subscription for four shows, meanwhile, is 40 euros.
This year, the official program included 26 shows, but in reality the theater is occupied almost every day by local associations, festivals, conferences or concerts, end-of-school-year shows, artist residencies… More 10,000 spectators pass through the doors of Trois-Ponts every year. Even during lockdowns, while staff were dispatched to other departments as reinforcements, the stage was made available to performers to support their work so they could continue working, even without an audience.
“Companies that love the Chaurian public”
“It is a great pleasure to have so much good feedback from spectators, but also from companies who love the Chaurien public”, confides Hélène Giral, deputy mayor of Castelnaudary and regional councilor of the Occitanie Region. According to her, “more than ever, access to culture and the different forms of art is necessary for the proper development of a society. The practice, but also contact with art in general, allows some to to affirm, to others to discover things towards which they would not have naturally gone. It is our responsibility to train and allow the open-mindedness of the young people who are our future”.
The theater room gives off good vibes, it has aged very well, over time it has been necessary to change the technical management and the next project will consist of changing the air conditioning and heating; it has been almost 20 years since the building was built in the city center in place of the “Le Vox” cinema.
For the 20th anniversary of the Théâtre des Trois-Ponts, the program for the 2022-2023 season will pay tribute to Miguel Angel Estrella, a humanist artist who inaugurated the theater on November 2, 2002. The presentation of the season should take place on September 23. .
