The 44-year-old actor and director, César for best film 2020 for “La Belle Epoque” is in police custody.

Since this Wednesday, June 21, Nicolas Bedos has been in police custody. He is accused by a woman of sexual assault. The facts would have taken place according to Actu 17 on the night of June 1 to 2, in an establishment in the 1st arrondissement of Paris.

The 25-year-old complainant was seated at a table. She assures that the director “fixed his gaze” before “sliding his hand at the level of his private parts, over his pants”, tells the news site. The young woman explains “having pushed him away” then having recognized him by saying to him “go get treatment!” A security guard would then have led Nicolas Bedos out of the establishment.

In front of the investigators, the director, currently 44 years old, explained “not to question the word of the complainant” but assured that “if this gesture existed”, it “can only be accidental”, according to a source close to the case.

Director, screenwriter and actor, the 44-year-old man has a César – that of the best original screenplay for the Belle Epoque in 2020 – and three out-of-competition selections at the Cannes Film Festival (in 2019, 2021 and 2022). Son of comedian Guy Bedos, he made a name for himself by distinguishing himself in many fields, since his theater debut in 2004, at the age of just 25, with several plays including Stage Output.

Update at 5:45 p.m. with elements of the police custody.
