Al-Marsad Newspaper: A specialist and content creator revealed a common ingredient added to foods and consumed as a drink that causes damage to the liver, kidneys and lungs.

The specialist said in a video clip that he posted on his account with the “Tik Tok” application: “Cinnamon may be a cause of liver damage,” noting: There are two types of cinnamon; The first is Ceylon cinnamon, which comes from Sri Lanka, and the second is Cassia cinnamon, which comes from China.

He explained that the difference between them is great and they contain the compound coumarin, which if taken in larger quantities than required, may lead to damage to the liver, kidneys and lungs.

And he warned once morest the spread of Chinese cinnamon because of its cheap price, indicating that the Chinese type of cinnamon has a concentration of coumarin in it that is more than 250 times that of the original cinnamon, and therefore the damage is greater.

And he concluded: The permissible amount of coumarin daily is 0.1% of milligrams per kilogram of your weight, explaining: The less you weigh, the less you need the smaller quantities.
