Challenge League – NE Xamax: Collet: “There is a physical problem that we have to work on” – rts.ch

After a catastrophic start to the season, Xamax is bottom of the Challenge League with 7 consecutive defeats and a new coach in charge. Jean-François Collet, president of the Neuchâtel club, took stock of the current situation in Sport Dimanche.

RTS Sport: What’s happening at Xamax? Is that bad ?

JEAN FRANCOIS COLLET: Serious, I will tell you at the end of the season, but it is true that today we are in an extremely complicated situation. We had a catastrophic preparation with a physical preparation which was not at the level. For example, we conceded 75% of our goals either between the 40th and 45th, or after the 75th, and scored only 20% after the 35th minute. There is a real physical problem that we need to work on quickly.

Football – Challenge League: Interview with Jean-François Collet, President of Neuchâtel Xamax FCS / Sport Sunday / 2 min. / yesterday at 6:25 p.m.

RTS Sport: What are the sporting objectives of the club today?

JEAN FRANCOIS COLLET: This year, we had set the goal of being in the top 5. We cannot say that it is impossible today, but it turns out to be complicated. When you have a league start with 7 games 0 points, your only objective is to raise your head and do the best you can. We no longer have a clear objective for this season. Our only goal is to win matches, score goals and have fun. We will see what our ranking will be at the end of the season.

RTS Sport: Some people think that you are in Neuchâtel Xamax only for business. How do you respond to your detractors?

JEAN FRANCOIS COLLET: It was at the very beginning, when I arrived in Neuchâtel. I think people realize that I am involved in this club. I’ve been there for 2 and a half years, I would have had the opportunity to sell it dozens of times. These are irrelevant arguments.
