Shinto village mayor election was held on the 23rd, and newcomer Chiharu Minami (42) was elected for the first time.

Minami is 42 years old.
I was elected for the first time in the 2007 by-election of a member of the Shinto Village Assembly, and served as chairman for four years from 2017.
He is the youngest incumbent mayor.
Mr. Minami said, “I would like to work on various issues in the village, such as child-rearing support and welfare for the elderly, and aim to create a village where everyone from babies to the elderly can live comfortably.”

According to a summary by the Gunma Prefectural Election Commission, the only female chiefs of municipalities in the prefecture were Setsuko Yamada, who was elected for the first time in the former Minakami town mayor election in 1986 and served one term, and the former mayor of 2014. He is the third person to be elected as mayor of Annaka, following Eiko Motegi, who served two terms.
