The qualifiers are coming: the Chilean team could not and only drew without goals against Bolivia, as a visitor in the last friendly in June.

The Chilean national team and Eduardo Berizzo close their preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a goalless draw (0-0) against Bolivia. La Roja’s third and last friendly in June was played at the Ramón Aguilera Costas stadium, in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
Chile’s first was after a minute with a filtered pass from Diego Valdés to Ben Brereton, but when the Englishman from La Roja was left face to face with goalkeeper Guillermo Viscarra, he was claimed offside. At 9′ Moreno Martins tested for Bolivia and went high.
Arturo Vidal took a shot from distance at 14′, but the ball reached Viscarra’s hands. Shortly after, Gabriel Suazo appeared in attack, made the diagonal and sent it over the local goal (19′).
In minute 37′ the clearest came with a run from Diego Valdés after an advantageous assist, but the figure of América de México defined poorly and lost it alone against the Bolivian goalkeeper.
Although the approaches of the Red were several, in the Bolivian domain it was slightly superior with an even process between Chileans and altiplanos. Lucas Chávez was able to beat Brayan Cortés in the 42′ minute, but his left footed shot at the near post went wide.
The second time
In the second half, Bolivia took the cross from below from the right and Chávez was unable to score thanks to Nayel Mehssatou’s cross, which he managed to reject surgically (46′). Diego Valdés had another chance at 57 ‘, but after Alexis Sánchez’s great ball shot he was left uncomfortable and misdirected the near post.
Brereton also squandered a chance at the near post in the 60th minute, while Alexis sent it wide when he appeared with space after Mehssatou’s assist from the right of attack.
At 85′ the magic of the golden generation could arrive with a great play by Alexis on the right, AS10 took out the center and the header went wide. At 87′ Alexis sent a strong free kick into the hands of Viscarra.
What’s coming
It should be remembered that Toto tried out the starting team thinking about the debut of the qualifiers. Against Bolivia, La Roja lined up with Brayan Cortés in goal; Juan Delgado, Gary Medel, Guillermo Maripán and Gabriel Suazo in defense; Víctor Felipe Méndez, Erick Pulgar, Arturo Vidal and Diego Valdés in midfield; Ben Brereton and Alexis Sánchez in attack.
Among the changes for La Roja, Nayel Mehssatou replaced Delgado (46′), Alexander Aravena replaced Brereton (63′) and Marcelino Núñez replaced Méndez (76′).
With wins against Cuba and the Dominican Republic, and a draw against Bolivia, now the Chilean team focuses on September. La Roja visits Uruguay and receives Colombia for the first and second dates of the World Cup qualifiers for Mexico, the United States and Canada 2026.
